Shale shaker for solids control are devices that remove drill cuttings from the drilling fluid while circulating and drilling. There are many different designs and research into the best design is constantly ongoing since solids control is vital in keeping down costs associated with the drilling fluid.
The basic design consists of large, flat sheets of wire mesh screens or sieves of various mesh sizes that shakes or vibrates the drill cuttings, commonly shale shaker, across and off of the screens as the drilling fluid flows through them and back into the drilling fluids processing system, often called a mud system. This separates the drill cuttings, often called solids, from the drilling fluid so that it can be recirculated back down the well bore. The KD-425 Slurry Treatment System consists of scalping shaker module, desanding module and desilting module. Equipped with coarse-mesh screens, the scalping shaker module is used to remove big particles. The desanding module is equipped with two desanding cyclones, and the desilting module is equipped with six desilting cyclones, and a dual-deck shaker is used as the underflow shaker for desander and desilter respectively.
The mud falls into the collecting box via scalping shaker, and then is conveyed to the desanding module through a connecting trough. The desanding module is equipped with a desander having two 18” cyclones in diameter and is capable to remove sand from the mud. The desilter with six 6” cyclones in diameter can further separate the mud as required.
1) KD-450 de-sanding module consists of coarse vibrating sieve, fine vibrating sieve, desanding cyclone, main container, mud tank and gravel pump.
2) Vibrating screen sieve angle can be adjusted, the adjustment range of -1 ° ~ +5 ° (sieve surface inclination upward positive angle).

Solids control is a technique used in the drilling rigs to separate the solids crushed by the drill bits that are brought to the well surface. When unwanted solids are efficiently removed from the circulation system, the fluids in the wells are of highest quality. Efficient Solids Control results into less replacement of fluids, less waste and few additives that are needed to be removed and disposed. This also significantly decreases the risk of downhole related problems due to excessive solid contents in the drilling fluid.
Normally, solids control system contains five stages: the mud tank, shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desander, desilter, and centrifuge. The shale shaker is used to separate big solids with diameter above 75μm, the desander addresses solids from 45-74μm, and the desilter segregates solids between 15-44μm. Sometimes the desander and desilter are combined as one high efficiency mud cleaner. When air enters the drilling fluids, a vacuum degasser is used to separate the air. When there is no air in the mud, the degasser works as a big agitator. All these stages are mounted on the top of the mud tank. After separating the solids, the clean mud can be pumped into the borehole again.
Recent advances in solids control include the creation of a closed loop system which allows for increased environmental control and reduction in the potential for spills of drilling fluids. Several US states have either passed or are considering the implementation of closed loop systems, particularly for hydro-fracturing operations.

Just as we all know that Decanter Centrifuge is one kind of machine revolving at high speed. During operation, revolving drum will generate strong centrifugal force (it is not like the solid control system, to some extent, decanter centrifuge is a core part for a whole solid control system and water based mud unit). To ensure the safety of operators and equipment, the following safety rules shall be strictly followed when using it.
Pay more attention for original Instruction Orders or Steps. Through dynamic balance of revolving drum parts of centrifuge, during assembly, original installation order shall not be changed and there shall be no parts omitted. Threaded connection part shall be installed in place; during assembly, if there is assembly mark, the mark shall be aligned. Before startup, operating pump system shall be inspected and there shall be no water leakage under close state of magnetic valve.
Keep the decanter centrifuge off. Before clamping revolving drum clamp ring and fixing inlet/outlet device and other fastening screws, decanter centrifuge shall not be started.
Before completely stopping revolving drum, any part of equipment shall not be loosened.
During operation, if abnormal vibration of decanter centrifuge is found, power shall be cut off for emergency shutdown. After revolving drum is completely stopped, each part shall be disassembled cleaned and inspected and attention shall be paid to assembly order and position. After the causes of abnormal vibration are found out and removed, reassembly and startup can be carried out. Time interval between re-startup and shutdown shall be more than 4h (This item is also suitable for mud cleaner).
Flame heating or repair welding of main revolving drum parts is not allowed, especially revolving drum body, revolving drum cover and clamp ring.
Use of revolving drum parts and revolving drum parts of other equipment shall not be mixed, even the revolving drum parts with same model.
